Former Prime Minister Chandrashekhar advised Sharif to forget Kashmir.
Chandrashekhar had told Nawaz Sharif that the day a government of India would be ready to give Kashmir to Pakistan, on the same day India will have to be ready to make India a Hindu nation. Then where will the Muslims here go? Therefore, Kashmir is a question of principle for us, not land. Chandrashekhar’s tenure of the Prime Minister was a few months in the long political life and famous for speaking his blunt. He met the then Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif during the SAARC conference.
During the conversation in private, Chandrashekhar told Sharif, “Nawaz saheb, no Pakistani Prime Minister can give Kashmir to the people there. And if you think about the fight, then let me tell you that you cannot take Kashmir by fighting, because you will never win in the fight. Some people can win. Some people may be killed. We have not started the matter.
Kashmir is not land, question of principles
Senior journalist Ram Bahadur Rai had asked Chandrashekhar in his book “Rahbari’s question” whether the solution to the India-Pakistan problem is possible? Referring to Nawaz Sharif and his meeting, Chandrashekhar had said that Kashmir is a question of principles, not land for us. He told Sharif, “The day we will give you Kashmir, the same question will arise on that day whether 12 crore Muslims will also go together?”
Nawaz Sharif started saying, how can this happen? ” Chandrasekhar had replied that if any government of India will give Kashmir, it will have to be ready to create a Hindu nation here on the same day and when a Hindu nation will be made, how will the Muslims be poor? “
Forget Kashmir
Chandrasekhar advised Sharif to forget Kashmir. Sharif asked Chandrashekhar how the relationship between the two countries would improve? Chandrashekhar had said in response, “Forget Kashmir and start friendship with Punjab. We gave them a list of ten -fifteen people and said that these people are hidden in your country. Tell them to come and talk and if the conversations are not successful, they will be taken safely.
If I talk about Kashmiri Pandits, I should say Sanghi
Chandrashekhar was also distressed for Kashmiri Pandits. He was angry that no one was asking seven lakh pundits. The talks of India-Pakistan were going on during the day when Chandrashekhar interviewed Chandrashekhar for “Rahbari’s Question”.
Commenting on this, Chandrashekhar had said, “The matter starts on Kashmir on the first day. The second day says that we will be adamant on the matter. The problem was also in Punjab. The right path was not solved! The problem is solved. Good, Kashmir is being solved. Kashmiri Pandits are being out of Kashmir but if we start saying that if we have started saying that there are so many people in the seven people, then the three people have been hostile. Can’t ask. “
Why America would like to improve Indo-Pak relations
Chandrashekhar believed that why would America want India and Pakistan to have good relations? America will do in its own interest. He is more threatened by China. He wants to make his inroads in China. For this, he needs a place to set foot in Nepal and Kashmir and this is possible only when there is a fight.
According to Chandrashekhar, those who claim to be secular, they pretend to find solutions to the Kashmir problem and if the problem of Kashmir is not solved for those who run Hindutva. Chandrashekhar had said, “If there is no quarrel between India and Pakistan, then the work of half the politicians will be over. If we are half in our country, then one -third of the work in Pakistan will end.”
Do not know how the Janata Party government went away from twenty -eight months?
Chandrashekhar never cared about what will be the loss of any of his statements or political decisions? On many occasions, they were seen floating in the opposite stream. In the efforts of dialogue between Indira Gandhi and Jayaprakash Narayan, he was expelled from the Congress and reached jail.
He was the president of the party during the Janata Party government. He rejected the post of minister in Morarji cabinet. During the 28 -month government, there was a ruckus in the party. It was also considered his failure. At the time of change of power in 1977, there was a lot of expectations. Why did this not happen?
Chandrashekhar’s reply was, “You cannot tell the names of two dozen young people who had taken out the perceptions of the entire revolution movement. I remember that 52 youths from the Vidyarthi movement applied for the ticket. On 45-48, I gave tickets to Karpoori Thakur. Many people won elections and became ministers.
A boy who went to jail from college and 18 months later M.P.-M.L.A. He wants to become a minister immediately. He forgot everyone sacrifice, sacrifice, sacrifice and Jai Prakash Narayan. There was no one in the other Janata Party who considered themselves equal to others. It is meaningless to say something about Morarji Bhai. It is meaningless to say something about Charan Singh. People of Jana Sangh came only as Shaktipunj. The idealism of socialist people was climbing on his head. Then what could have been done? When I remember those events, it is wonder how the government has gone to the twenty -eight months?
Why did the government form?
When Chandrashekhar rejected the post of minister in the Morarji Desai government, it was said that his eye is on the post of Prime Minister. He was with the Janata Dal in 1989 but the leadership of Vishwanath Pratap Singh was not accepted. Chandrashekhar was very upset with the stakes of Devi Lal at the time of selection of the post of parliamentary party. Vishwanath Pratap Singh became Prime Minister. However, his government was a minor. The next Prime Minister was Chandrashekhar. Only 64 MPs were supported. His government was formed with the support of the Congress. Nobody expected the government to run. Chandrashekhar was also aware of this.
Chandrashekhar said, “I knew that my government would not be able to run for long. I have been irony. I have enlightened a lot but till date I have not received the answer.
The country was the way of destruction, I could change it
Chaudhary Charan Singh Sarkar remembered the fate of the Congress’s support. He also believed that the government will not last long. Still, becoming Prime Minister accepted. Why? Chandrashekhar’s answer was, “At that time the path on which VP government was taking the country was a dangerous path. The country was going towards destruction. I could change it, I was confident. Two types of riots were going on-communal and social. I took oath on 11 November 1990. At that time, the young man was committed in 70-75 places. There was no experience of running the government on the other hand
