Chengalpattu: Delivering a high-voltage speech at the DMK’s “My Voting Booth, Winning Booth” conference held in Thiruvidanthai, Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president M.K. Stalin issued a stark warning to voters, asserting that any government formed without the DMK would effectively be a “Delhi BJP government.” He further cautioned that if the DMK alliance is defeated, the state will witness “riot politics” and the welfare schemes implemented over the past five years will come to a halt.
“Tamil Nadu Team vs Delhi Team”: Stalin Frames 2026 as Existential Battle
Stalin drew a sharp battle line, framing the upcoming Assembly elections as a contest between the “Tamil Nadu team” and the “Delhi team.” He declared that the DMK’s “super fast engine” will not bow before the BJP’s “dabba engine,” a metaphor aimed at projecting the DMK as the sole guardian of Tamil Nadu’s autonomy and development. The Chief Minister claimed his government rescued the state’s economy from the “doldrums” of the previous AIADMK regime and achieved double-digit growth, positioning the DMK’s five-year record as a “blueprint that will guide Tamil Nadu for the next 50 years.”
Confidence and Caution: “Pro-DMK Mood” but No Room for Complacency
While asserting that there is a “pro-DMK mentality throughout the state” and that the party is capable of winning more than 200 seats, Stalin also urged cadre not to take victory for granted. He emphasized that votes for any party outside the DMK alliance would jeopardize the continuation of welfare schemes like the monthly allowance for women, free bus travel, and breakfast scheme.
Calling polling agents the “foundation of knowledge,” he instructed them to read the party’s achievement plan book daily and personally connect with at least 100 voters each. Stressing unity with allies, Stalin concluded, “The goal cannot be achieved without unity.”
