Icmr malaria vaccine adfalcivax: In India, millions of people are victims of malaria, in which people also die due to serious condition. But now the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has taken new steps to remove this concern. In which the license of ICMR’s malaria vaccine will be given to different companies, which is considered to be a hope to control malaria. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has provided non-exclusive rights to five pharmaceutical companies for its multi-grain malaria vaccine, Edfalcivax-Adfalcivax. According to a report by news agency PTI and ET Pharma, apart from malaria vaccine, ICMR has also licensed Biological E to its Salmonella and Shigella vaccine candidates.

On which grounds selected
ICMR released the Expression of Interest (EOI) in July 2025, in which applications were sought from qualified companies and organizations for commercialization of this vaccine. Many companies submitted proposals for technical transfer, after reviewing five companies were selected. Under this agreement, companies will work on further development, construction and commercialization of the vaccine using lactococcus lactis-based technology.
What is a multi-stage malaria vaccine ‘Edfalciax’?
- This is the first indigenous malaria vaccine which is created by ICMR, Bhubaneswar.
- This vaccine is designed to raise the infection of Plasmodium Falciparum, the most dangerous malaria parasite.
- Plasmodium stops the infection of Phalsiparum in the initial stage, which will not lead to the infection.
- Plasmodium Phalsiparum is the most deadly parasite of malaria, which is difficult to control and which is responsible for increasing the disease.
- Adfalcivax malaria infection is not allowed to enter into the blood, before that it is stopped.
