In the 16th match of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, there was a clash between the teams of England Women and Pakistan Women. An exciting match was going on between these two teams at Sri Lanka’s R Premadasa Stadium, but rain dashed everyone’s expectations. An amazing performance was seen from Pakistan in this match and it was close to a historic victory. But rain spoiled Pakistan’s entire game.
Pakistan-England match canceled due to rain
Pakistani bowlers, who won the toss and decided to bowl first, did not allow the English batsmen to stay on the crease. England lost its first wicket for 13 runs and within no time half the team returned to the pavilion at 54 runs. Even after this the process of falling wickets continued. But then the match had to be stopped due to rain. However, after a long break the match resumed and the match was reduced to 31-31 overs. England continued their innings and scored 133 runs at the loss of 9 wickets in 31 overs.
At the same time, under the Duckworth Lewis rule, Pakistan was given a target of 113 runs in 31 overs to win. In response, Pakistan made a strong start and scored 34 runs in 6.4 overs without losing any wicket. But then once again the match had to be stopped due to rain and later the umpires decided to cancel the match.
Pakistan missed out on creating history
After all, Pakistan women’s team has not defeated England even once in the history of ODI cricket. However, in this match she seemed a big contender for victory. But the rain spoiled their wishes. At the same time, Pakistan team once again failed to open the account of victory in ICC Women’s World Cup 2025. Pakistan has played 4 matches so far, out of which it has lost 3 and 1 has been inconclusive.
