New Delhi: After his heroics against the West Indies in the mush-win T20 World Cup 2026 Super Eight clash, Sanju Samson has witnessed a big jump in the latest ICC rankings released on Wednesday. The T20 rankings continued to be dominated by the Indian players with Samson rising 25 positions after his exploits against the West Indies.
Samson’s big jump came on the back of a brilliant 97 not out against the West Indies which helped India storm into the semifinals of the marquee event couple of days ago. Meanwhile, the 31-year-old wicketkeeper-batter jumped 25 positions to become world number 40 and he could only improve it further if he delivers for the defending champions in the crucial semis clash.
Abhishek Sharma continues on top
Meanwhile, lethal Indian opener Abhishek Sharma continues to stay on the top of the T20 rankings with 874 points, despite a string of low scores with Ishan Kishan, Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav being the other Indian batters at number 4, number 6, and number 7 respectively. Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan, who ended as the highest run-scorer in the edition as Pakistan were eliminated, is closing in on the second spot.
In the bowling charts, India’s Varun Chakravarthy continues to lead the charts with 771 points, while Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan is at the second position. Jasprit Bumrah, after his stellar show vs the West Indies, has gained a spot to sit at no. 7 in the world. Lastly, Arshdeep Singh too gained six spots, to be at the 13th place for now.
On the other hand, Hardik Pandya is on the cusp of becoming the world no. 1 all-rounder as he is just a spot away for now behind Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza who’s leading the group. Meanwhile in the T20 World Cup 2026, only three matches are left with the first semifinal between New Zealand and South Africa in Kolkata on March 4.
In the second semifinal, Team India will take on England at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on March 5, Thursday. The final is set to tale place in Ahmedabad on Sunday, March 8.
