New Delhi: Bollywood actress Sonal Chauhan has found herself caught in a tense international situation, as rising conflict between the United States, Iran and Israel has thrown air travel across the Middle East into chaos.
With flights in and out of Dubai suddenly suspended, Sonal says she is now stranded in the city and has turned directly to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asking the Indian government to help her return home safely.
Stranded in Dubai
Sonal Chauhan, best known for her roles in films like Jannat, revealed on social media that she is “currently stranded in Dubai amid the ongoing crisis.” The escalation began after missile strikes by the United States and Israel on Iran triggered widespread disruption in the region, including the grounding of flights in and out of Dubai.
In a note posted on her Instagram Stories, she wrote: “Hon’ble PM @narendramodi ji, I am currently stranded in Dubai amid the ongoing crisis. Flights have been cancelled, and there is no clear way to return to India. I’m seeking the government’s guidance and support to help me get back home safely.”
Appeal to the Indian government
In the same message, Sonal turned to India’s top leadership for help, tagging the Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian consulate in Dubai. She added: “I would be deeply grateful for any assistance from the Government and guidance for a safe return @meaindia @india_in_dubai.”
Her request highlights how even short overseas trips can suddenly turn stressful when global tensions spill over into everyday travel. With airports in Dubai shut and no clear timeline for resuming operations, Sonal is among many Indians whose journeys have been thrown into uncertainty.
Hon’ble PM @narendramodi ji,
I am currently stranded in Dubai due to the ongoing crisis, with flights cancelled and no clear way to return to India. I respectfully seek the Government’s guidance for a safe journey home
Grateful for any support extended🙏🏻🇮🇳@MEAIndia @IndiainDubai— SONAL CHAUHAN (@sonalchauhan7) February 28, 2026
Other Indian travellers affected
Sonal is not alone in being caught off guard by the sudden disruption. Indian badminton star P V Sindhu, who was travelling to Birmingham for the All England Open tournament with Dubai as a transit point, is also stranded at Dubai airport.
The situation has drawn attention to how interconnected India is with the Gulf region, and how quickly geopolitical events can impact ordinary citizens, including public figures like Sonal Chauhan. As the crisis continues, all eyes are on how Indian authorities respond to such appeals for safe return.
