‘I will be the next Chief Minister of Bihar’: Tejashwi Yadav declares on TV9 stage

New Delhi: In a bold statement at the TV9 Digital Bihar Baithak on Friday, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav said that it will not be Nitish Kumar but he who will take charge as the next Chief Minister of Bihar. “There is no other face for the Chief Minister’s post in Bihar. Nitish Kumar will not return as CM. Tejashwi Yadav is going to be the next Chief Minister,” he said, responding to a question on whether the state needs an “original” or “duplicate” chief minister.

‘We have our own strategy’

When asked if his remarks amounted to an announcement, Yadav said that the official declaration would be made at the right time. “In 2020, who was there as the face? It was us. We have our own strategy, and we will decide on this. Seat sharing is underway, after that the manifesto will be finalised and then the announcement will be made jointly. Why such a hurry?” he said. On Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent article suggesting Nitish Kumar would lead the alliance, Yadav said, “Even Amit Shah is not accepting Nitish Kumar as the next Chief Minister. Time will decide who leads after the elections.”

‘Be patient and enjoy the wait’

Responding to questions about Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s reluctance to endorse him directly as the CM face, Yadav said, “We have said this many times. Once seat-sharing is completed, the official announcement will be made in front of everyone. Be patient and enjoy the wait. The more the delay, the more you will enjoy it.”
