With only a few days left for election day in the United States of America, many celebrities have started casting their votes. Joining the wave of celebrities, actress Reese Witherspoon is the latest one to vote early.
On Friday, Nov 1, the Legally Blonde actress revealed that she has exercised her civic duty and in this election, she has voted for Democratic candidate Kamala Harris.
Sharing a selfie of her with a badge reading, ”I voted,” the actress in the caption highlighted women’s right to medical privacy and reproductive choice as a core issue.
In the caption, she wrote, ”I voted today. ✅ Top of my mind, as I considered all candidates, is protecting women’s rights to medical privacy and reproductive choice. This is a critical time in our shared history to vote for the candidate that represents the future we want to see. That’s why I voted for Kamala Harris for President. For my daughter and for the millions of hard-working American women who value our freedoms.”
The actress added that she wants “to protect democracy at all costs.”
”I want to protect democracy at all costs. I love my country and no matter what happens in this election, I’m here to move our great nation forward in a unified way. ” her post concluded.
In this election, Harris is pitted against Republican rival Donald Trump.
Before Witherspoon, actress Selena Gomez exercised her civic duty and cast her vote. She stopped by a ballot box before her Wizards Beyond Waverly Place premiere.
In a video, she can be heard saying, “We can’t go to the premiere without voting!” After casting her vote, Selena added an ‘I voted.’
