New Delhi: Indian cricketer SanjuSamson is ready for a fresh start in IPL 2026. After a long stint with the Rajasthan Royals, he will now wear the Chennai Super Kings jersey.
While many expected Samson to captain the team upon joining CSK, he himself clarified that he wants to play under Ruturaj Gaikwad‘s captaincy. While this decision may come as a surprise, CSK fans are seeing it as a significant change.
Desire to Play Under Ruturaj’s Leadership
Sanju Samson, in a conversation with CSK, stated that Ruturaj Gaikwad is a very good friend and it would be a pleasure to play under his captaincy. He clearly stated, “Rutu is the captain, and I want to play under his captaincy. I want to be with him as a leader.”
Emotional Farewell to Rajasthan Royals
According to Rajasthan Royals owner Manoj Badale, Samson was emotionally drained during the team’s poor season. In a meeting after a match in Kolkata, Samson expressed his desire to move on for the first time. His worst season as a captain in 18 years had shaken him to the core.
Echoes of a Big Trade, Jadeja and Curran Join RR
Rajasthan Royals acquired Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran in exchange for Sanju Samson. Jadeja’s return to RR is historic, he began his IPL career with the same team in 2008 and is returning after 17 years. Sam Curran will wear the RR jersey for the first time.
