‘I needed to ride all year with a bike I didn’t like’ – Maverick Viñales

Maverick Viñales completed his final season with Aprilia in MotoGP before moving to Red Bull KTM Tech3 for 2025. Despite a victory at the Americas GP, the season fell short of expectations.

There was a lack of consistent performance, and the Austin result was the only podium in a main race for any of the Noale constructor’s riders – though there were other top-three finishes in Sprint races.

Even though Viñales had requested only minimal changes from the 2023 bike, the 2024 RS-GP turned out to be very different-and worse. He admitted he never liked the bike:

– I needed to ride all year with a bike I didn’t like. We worked with [José] Manuel [Cazeaux, crew chief]. What we don’t understand is Portimão and Austin – how good we were. Then, obviously, I was able to be good in another tracks, but not like in those two.
