I love Europe, but it’s not heading in right direction: Trump at Davos

New Delhi: US President Donald Trump on Wednesday struck a confident note on the American economy while addressing the World Economic Forum in Davos, claiming his leadership had delivered what he described as an “economic miracle.” Opening his remarks with a quip that it was good to speak to “so many friends, and a few enemies,” prompting laughter in the auditorium, Trump said the United States had undergone a transformation not seen in the last 100 years.

He described the US as the “economic engine of the planet” and said the country was now “hot again,” contrasting it with what he called a “dead country” a year ago under Democratic leadership. Trump claimed that his tenure had attracted USD 18 trillion in investments, pushed the stock market to all-time highs within just one year, and delivered extraordinary economic growth with no inflation, even as he warned that many parts of the world were being “destroyed” despite their vast potential.

The US President landed in Davos today, amid some pushback from European allies over his remarks on Greenland.
