New Delhi: India’s ODI skipper Rohit Sharma has started the preparations for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia, which is set to begin in Perth on October 19. The 37-year-old will make his first international appearance after winning the 2025 Champions Trophy in March.
He shared a video of his net session on Instagram and said in the clip, ” I am here again. It feels really good,”. The video showcased his brilliant timing and fitness ahead of the crucial series.

Rohit has already announced his retirement from T20Is and Tests, and is only in contention to be picked for the 50-over matches. He has been training for quite some time with former India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar.
The first ODI match between India and Australia is scheduled to take place at Optus Stadium in Perth on October 19, and the following two matches will be played on October 23 and 25 in Adelaide and Sydney, respectively.
Earlier this month, Rohit cleared a fitness test at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, confirming his readiness to return to international cricket.
Rohit, Virat to play for India A?
According to reports, Rohit and Virat Kohli are likely to play in the three-match ODI series between India A and Australia A, which is set to begin at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur on September 30, October 3 and October 5. The series will be crucial for both legendary batters to prepare for the upcoming series against the senior team .
Rohit has played 46 ODI matches against Australia, scoring 2407 runs, while Kohli has played 50 matches against the Aussies, amassing 2451 runs. If Rohit is selected for the Australia tour and he plays at least one game during the ODI series, then the opening batter will become the fifth Indian cricketer after Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli to play 500 international matches for the Indian Cricket team.
