New Delhi: Hyundai has dropped the first teaser of what will be its smallest Ioniq EV yet, signalling the brand’s push to widen its electric mobility portfolio. The new model is confirmed to make its global debut at the IAA Mobility Show in Munich on September nine. Once launched, it will slot below the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6.
Effectively becoming the entry-level offering in Hyundai’s growing Ioniq line-up. Positioned as a compact hatchback, the car is expected to combine futuristic design with efficiency, making it well-suited for city commutes as well as affordable ownership in markets where demand for small EVs is rapidly growing.
Hyundai Ioniq features and details
The teaser hints at a compact hatchback silhouette, exterior is inspired by recently updated Ioniq 6 sedan along with full width LED lighting features on front and rear, it comes with bulky fastback profile along with a ducktail spoiler, flared fenders and a sporty bumper. The EV is designed for city driving, the Hyundai is targeting a budget-friendly EV option that combines efficiency with utility, appealing to young and urban consumers.
The upcoming small electric hatchback is expected to be built on Hyundai’s advanced E-GMP modular platform, the same architecture that will also underpin the Kia EV2 and EV3. Power is likely to come from a single 201 hp electric motor paired with a 58.3 kWh battery pack.
Hyundai Ioniq competitor
The new model will likely rival entry-level EVs from brands like MG, Tata, and upcoming European compact EVs. By expanding its Ioniq sub-brand, Hyundai is positioning itself strongly in the mass-market electric car segment, catering to regions like Europe and Asia where demand for compact EVs is rising rapidly.
