Maruti Suzuki, the Indian auto giant, is gearing up for the launch of its new mid-size SUV on 3rd September 2025, which could be called the Maruti Suzuki Escudo.
Upon arrival, Maruti Suzuki’s new SUV will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta in the domestic market. Also, the Maruti Suzuki SUV will be retailed through the Arena channel.
The Maruti Suzuki SUV has been codenamed as Y17 internally, and it is expected to be placed above the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, but below the Grand Vitara. The key highlight of this SUV will be its spacious interior. The brand is set to launch the SUV at a time when there is intense competition in the segment, and players like Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV700, Kia Seltos, and Hyundai Creta have gained significant momentum in the segment.
While the exact details of the Maruti Suzuki SUV have not been revealed yet, it is likely to be powered by the 1.5-litre K15 motor. The NA petrol powerplant is expected to get a CNG option as well. The engine could be retuned, but the output figures will remain unchanged at 100 hp and 88 hp, in petrol and CNG guise, respectively.
Talking about the features, this new Maruti Suzuki will retail with a long list of features, namely ventilated front seats, 360-degree camera, 9-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, panoramic sunroof, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a wireless phone charger, an all-digital instrument cluster, and more.
Following the launch of this new SUV, the brand is also looking forward to launching its first EV – Maruti Suzuki eVitara, in the Indian market. Once launched, this electric SUV will lock horns with the likes of the Mahindra BE6, Hyundai Creta Electric, and more.
