Hyderabad security guard does night duty under mosquito net as residents sleep in AC, viral video sparks debate

Hyderabad: A video from Hyderabad has gone viral, drawing attention to the working conditions of security guards in residential societies. The clip shows a guard performing his night duty while sitting under a mosquito net, triggering a debate online.

Security guard works under mosquito net

The video, shared on X by a user named Suraj Kumar Bauddh, captures a woman speaking to the guard, who remains seated on a chair, covered with a mosquito net as he stays awake through the night. The unusual sight quickly caught the attention of viewers, highlighting the challenges faced by security personnel during long night shifts.

Sharing the video, Bauddh wrote, “Security guard life in India. Poor guard is covered under a mosquito net and doing his duty while awake at night. Society members live in AC; cannot they provide a safe place for their guard? The real issue is compassion. People have lost their compassion for the poor.”

Netizens react

The video has garnered over 4.9 lakh views, with many users questioning why guards are often left without even basic amenities. Several pointed out that while residents enjoy comfortable living conditions, guards continue to work in difficult environments.

One user wrote, “This is honestly heartbreaking to watch. We depend on them for our safety, yet this is how they are treated.” Another commented, “At least a proper cabin or fan should be provided. This is the bare minimum.”

Some users noted that such situations are not rare. “This is the reality in most societies across cities. Guards are often left to manage in extreme weather conditions,” a comment read.

A fourth user said, “These guards are the responsibility of society management but they are least bothered. All they want is monthly maintenance. I have provided a cooler, mosquito repellent to them If u raise this in the society group they remove you from the group.”

Someone noted, “At least he has a chair.. every mall in india makes its employees stand for the entire working hours. why? no chairs allowed in lifts, pharmacy shops etc.. its unimaginable cruelty..”

Another person said, “This isn’t “duty,” it’s straight-up modern slavery with extra steps.”
