Hyderabad: A newly wed software engineer died by suicide, just over a month after she tied the knot with her beau, over dowry harassment, tv9 telugu reported.
Ishika Yadav, hailing from Bihar, and Neeraj Bansal, from Madhya Pradesh, met through social media in 2020 and got married with the blessings of their elders in February 2026 in Patna.
Harassment for additional dowry:
The couple, who are software professionals, resided in Miyapur area of the city. According to reports, disputes arose between them over demands for additional dowry. Unable to endure her husband’s harassment, Ishika died by hanging herself from a ceiling fan inside their home.
Ishika’s parents lodge complaint:
Upon receiving information from the husband, the Miyapur police arrived at the scene of the incident and shifted her body to Gandhi Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
The deceased’s parents lodged a complaint with the police, stating that their daughter committed suicide because she was harassed for gold, diamond jewelry, and additional dowry.
