The 2018 youth entertainer Husharu earned a special following among Telugu audiences for its youthful energy, friendship and comedy.
Now, the cult favourite is returning with a sequel. The makers have officially announced Husharu 2, promising another entertaining ride with a fresh story and a new world.
Sree Harsha Konuganti, who wrote and directed the original, is returning as the writer-director for the sequel. While the film retains the friendship and youthful spirit associated with Husharu, the new story takes the characters into a very different setting.
The sequel follows five ambitious friends who lose everything during the COVID period and look for a way to rebuild their lives. Their journey takes them to Chittragunj, where they pursue an unusual business opportunity involving an agave-based tequila distillery.
The makers are keeping the larger developments of the story under wraps, but the premise itself promises plenty of scope for comedy, adventure and chaos.
The title announcement poster adds to the curiosity. It features Kaboom beer, a truck, a giant snake, a turtle, a treasure chest filled with gold and a factory.
The unusual imagery also evokes the legendary Samudra Manthan, raising questions about its connection to the sequel.
The film features Rahul Ramakrishna, Ashok Galla, Ravi Anthony, Dinesh Tej, Sasidhar Kocharlakota, Vidhi Yadhav, Abhignya Vuthuluru, Bhagwan Tiwari, Jatin Goswami and Rajai Rowan.
Produced by Rahul Varma, K. Veena Rani and K. Hanumant Raju, with Komatireddy Sharan Reddy as co-producer, the film is backed by Caveman Stories, HK Films and Kaliyuga Vaaradha Creations.
Major shooting schedules have been completed, and the film is currently in post-production. Husharu 2 is targeting a year-end theatrical release, with the teaser, first look and further details expected soon.
