In Latur, Maharashtra, a mother stabbed her 18-month-old daughter to death in anger following a fight over her husband coming home late. On the complaint of the husband, the police have arrested the accused mother.

When the husband came home late at night, the wife created a ruckus and then in the same anger she brutally killed their 18-month-old daughter by stabbing her with a knife. This terrible incident happened in Latur, Maharashtra. Ashwini Chowgule is the mother who killed her 18-month-old daughter out of anger at her husband. Her husband Vikram Jagannath Chowgule, a daily wage labourer, had come home late. A fight started over this matter and the child was murdered. Now, on the complaint of husband Vikram Chougule, the police has arrested the cruel mother Ashwini Chougule, who murdered the girl child.
Latur Superintendent of Police Amol Tambe said that Ashwini had told her husband to come home soon after finishing work. But Vikram Chowgule came home late, after which there was a fight in the house over this matter. The Chougule family is originally from Hasegaon village of Kalamb taluka of Dharashiv district of Maharashtra and lived in a rented house in Shyam Nagar near Manjra Gate of Latur city. Police Inspector Samadhan Chavre said that according to local residents, screaming sounds were heard from the couple’s house around 5 am on Monday morning. When the neighbors reached there and knocked the door repeatedly, there was no response from inside.
After this, panicked neighbors informed Ashwini’s husband about the commotion in the house. Apart from being a daily wage labourer, he also worked as a tractor driver and had gone to Kalamb with a load of sugarcane. After getting information from neighbors he returned home around 10 in the morning. When he reached home and called his wife, she opened the door and confessed that she had killed her daughter by stabbing her multiple times.
Police investigation revealed that Ashwini attacked her younger daughter Nandini with a kitchen knife and stabbed her on several parts of her body. The girl was taken for treatment, but she died during treatment. Later, the MIDC police station team reached the spot, conducted panchnama of the spot, seized the knife used in the crime and arrested the murdered mother, Ashwini.
Police officials said that strict legal action will be taken against the accused. Also, he appealed to the citizens to avoid violence during family disputes. He urged people facing family or mental stress to seek counseling or legal help. Overall, due to anger at her husband, a mother sacrificed her own innocent daughter, who did not know anything.
