Maintenance Case: Madhya Pradesh High Court has ruled in favor of a jobless doctor woman. The court has ordered to pay maintenance of Rs 15,000 every month to the ONGC employee husband. The wife had made allegations of dowry harassment and non-payment of expenses.
Madhya Pradesh High Court: It must be a bit strange to hear that why did the court order to pay Rs 15,000 to the doctor’s wife as maintenance? He is capable of earning on his own. But the High Court of Madhya Pradesh has given its decision in favor of the woman. The reason behind this is his being jobless. The woman’s husband works in ONGC and monthly income is Rs 74,000. Relations deteriorated after a few months of marriage
The woman got married with all Hindu rituals on 20 February 2018 in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh. But on 14 November 2018, she left her husband’s house. The same day he filed an application for maintenance in the court. The woman alleged that her husband was cruel to her and did not pay her expenses.
Wife accused of dowry demand and harassment
The woman told the court that her husband and in-laws used to harass her ever since their marriage. Started demanding dowry. When she did not bow down to his demands, he threw her out of her in-laws’ house. She was thrown out of the house on 24 June 2018.
False allegations, wife is earning herself – husband
At the same time, the husband rejected all the allegations made by the wife and said that she never asked for dowry. She said that she is living separately without any reason. His sister is a lawyer and on her request my wife has filed a false case against us.

Wife is earning Rs 45 thousand herself-husband
The husband told the court that his wife is a doctor and has worked in many hospitals, due to which her income is around Rs 45,000 per month. The man told that his parents are elderly and suffering from diseases, hence the responsibility of the family is on him.
High Court said- it is the duty of the husband to provide financial support to the wife
After hearing the arguments of all the parties, the High Court said that the wife is unemployed and needs financial assistance. Considering the monthly income of the husband, the court ordered that he should pay Rs 15,000 as maintenance to the wife every month.
