The husband used to work as a laborer in Mumbai and used to come to Surat once a month. During interrogation, the woman told that whenever her husband came home, he used to torture her badly. Due to sexual harassment, the woman suffered serious physical injuries and even bleeding. To get rid of this hellish life, she decided to get rid of her husband.

The woman tried twice to kill her husband. On the night of January 1, the woman mixed rat poison in turmeric milk and gave it to her husband to drink. However, this did not cause his death. Then on January 5, when the husband’s condition was already bad due to poison, the woman overpowered him and strangled him to death.

After the murder, the woman tried to make it look like death due to illness. The husband was taken to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The matter worsened when the brother of the deceased wanted to take the body to his native village Bihar (East Champaran) and perform the last rites, but the wife was adamant on performing the last rites in Surat itself.
Seeing the wife’s strange behavior and stubbornness, the brother became suspicious and lodged a complaint with the police. When the post-mortem of the body was done, the report found traces of poison and strangulation marks. After this, the police interrogated strictly and the woman confessed to her crime.
