Ravi Teja appears to have struck a jackpot with Irumudi, not just through his remuneration but also through the overall deal he reportedly secured.
According to sources, the actor received around Rs 8 crore as remuneration and also retained the Nizam theatrical rights. With the film receiving positive talk and collections gaining momentum, the arrangement could turn out to be highly rewarding for him.
Sources claim that the Nizam rights could fetch at least Rs 20 crore, even on a conservative estimate. If that happens, Ravi Teja’s total earnings from the project could already touch around Rs 28 crore.
If the film continues to perform strongly at the box office, the final figure could go even higher. In effect, Ravi Teja may end up earning much more than his usual remuneration.
The film’s overall landing cost, including promotions and interest, is reportedly around Rs 42 crore. At the same time, theatrical rights in other territories are said to have been sold at reasonable prices.
With OTT and other rights also adding to the revenue, the producers could still end up with a profitable deal despite giving the Nizam rights to Ravi Teja as part of his remuneration structure.
This model could also offer some relief to producers when working with established stars. Instead of demanding a very high upfront remuneration, the actor gets a share in the film’s business through territorial rights.
For Ravi Teja, this approach appears even more significant after a series of setbacks in recent years.
The bigger question now is whether he will continue with the same remuneration model if Irumudi becomes a major commercial success.
If the film continues its strong run, Ravi Teja may have shown that sharing in the business upside can sometimes be more rewarding than simply taking a large upfront fee. For producers too, it could become a more comfortable arrangement.
