Best time to plant beetroot
Beetroot plant grows well in cold weather. To sow it in India, you can choose the months of October to January or September to February. It is believed that beetroot starts swelling quickly in summer and the roots are not able to form properly. Therefore, if it is sown in cold weather, good results are seen.
How to sow beet seeds
To plant beetroot, you can use its seeds which you can easily get from any nursery. First of all, bring beetroot seeds and germinate them. For this, soak the seeds in lukewarm water for 10 to 12 hours and sow them in a pot the next day. For this, take a big pot or grow bag and make beds. Sow the seeds by making pits at a distance of 10 to 12 cm. After putting the seeds, cover them with soil. Leaves will start coming from the plant only after 5 to 7 days.

It is very important for the soil to be right for planting beetroot. For this you need soft, friable and nutritious soil. Take a 12 inch deep pot and mix 50% garden soil, 25% rotted cow dung manure or vermi compost, 20% sand in it, also add 12 spoons of neem cake and 1 spoon of bone meal to the soil and mix it well. This mixture becomes light, nutritious and draining, due to which the roots of beetroot grow quickly and remain healthy.

In the beginning, the beetroot plant needs light irrigation every day for 15-20 days. But later irrigate it once in 3-4 days. But keep in mind that there should be moisture in the soil but water should not accumulate. Beetroot plant requires 6 to 7 hours of sunlight. Therefore, keep it at a place where it can get sufficient sunlight.
Right time and method of harvesting beetroot
After planting, the beetroot plant becomes ready for harvesting in 55 to 75 days. To identify it, see that when the size of the root becomes 5-8 cm in diameter and the leaves look green and shiny, then understand that the time has come to remove the beetroot. Morning or evening is the best time for harvesting. Before taking out the beetroot, loosen the soil a little and then pull it gently.
