pregnant woman
It is winter season and one feels less thirsty, but this does not mean that one has to drink less water. It is especially important for pregnant women to drink enough water in winter. Because if there is lack of water in the body, it can affect both the woman and the child. In many cases, it can cause problems in the woman’s delivery or even cause premature birth of the child.
Dr Saloni Chadha in the Department of Gynecology at RML Hospital, Delhi. tells that pregnant woman One must drink 8 to 10 glasses of water daily even in winter. If you drink less water than this, the risk of urine infection, swelling in the body and the amount of amniotic fluid reduces. If its quantity is less then the risk of cesarean delivery increases.
How does drinking less water increase the risk of cesarean delivery?
Dr Saloni says that drinking less water reduces the amount of amniotic fluid in the body. If its level decreases in the beginning, there may be pressure on the baby’s hands, legs or face, which may cause problems like amniotic band syndrome. In such a situation, it is very important for women to keep drinking water even during the winter season.
Make a rule as to when to drink water. Make sure to drink at least 2.5 to 3 liters of water a day. Also keep in mind that to fulfill the water deficiency, you can drink things like coconut water and soup, but avoid drinking too much tea or coffee.
