He received a total of 452 votes. He won the election by defeating India Block candidate B Sudarshan Reddy. Who is CP Radhakrishnan?
The full name of CP Radhakrishnan is Chandrapuram Ponnusamy Radhakrishnan. He was born on 20 October 1957 in Tiruppur district of Tamil Nadu. He has been associated with BJP and RSS for a long time and is considered to be his great stature in Tamil Nadu politics.
CP Radhakrishnan’s education qualification
CP Radhakrishnan’s journey of education has been quite interesting. He studied his graduation from VO Chidambaram College, Tuticorin. From here he earned a graduation degree in Business Administration. He then conducted research in political science and completed his PhD on the subject of ‘Fall of feudalism’. On the basis of this research, he also received a doctorate degree. He was active and sports lover from the days of studies. He was also a table tennis champion and long -range runner in the college. CP Radhakrishnan’s political career starts
Radhakrishnan started his social and political journey by joining the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). In 1974, he became a member of the State Executive Committee of Bharatiya Jana Sangh. After this, his hold in politics became stronger.

- In 1996, he was made the secretary of Tamil Nadu BJP.
- He was elected a Lok Sabha MP twice from Coimbatore.
- While being an MP, he presided over the Parliamentary Standing Committee of the Ministry of Textiles.
- From 2004 to 2007 he was the Tamil Nadu BJP President and during this time he took out a 19,000 km long rath yatra lasting 93 days.
CP Radhakrishnan’s work as Governor
On 31 July 2024, Radhakrishnan was sworn in as the Governor of Maharashtra. Before that he was the Governor of Jharkhand for 18 months. He also took over additional charge of Telangana and Puducherry. While being a governor in Jharkhand, he visited all 24 districts in just four months and interacted directly with the common people.
CP Radhakrishnan contributed internationally
- In 2004, he joined the United Nations General Assembly with the Parliamentary Delegation.
- He also became part of the first Indian parliamentary delegation to visit Taiwan.
- He has traveled to America, Britain, France, Germany, Japan, China and many other countries.
In 2016, he was made the chairman of the Care Board (Kochi). Under his leadership, the export of coconut fiber from India reached a record level. From 2020 to 2022 he was also in charge of Kerala of BJP.
