A report by The Australia Today states that Indian citizens living in Australia were celebrating Independence Day in peace. Then Khalistani supporters waved the flags and spoiled the atmosphere. Tried to stop Indians. However, Indians hoisted the tricolor between Bharat Mata ki Jai and Vande Mataram’s announcement. A video of this incident is also going viral.
Who is Khalistani after all?
The demand for a separate country started in the 1970s for Punjabi speakers by separating the state of Punjab of India. Its name was proposed by Khalistan. Its supporters are called Khalistani. Pakistan -backed separatists were involved in this. A new type of terrorism was born in Punjab for this in the 1970s-80s. In the year 1978, Babbar Khalsa International was formed a terrorist-separatist organization.
There was a lot of bloodshed in Punjab, scorching in the fire of separation. However, by the year 1993, India tightened this terrorism. Despite this, Pakistan did not desist from its antics and in the name of Khalistan support, new terrorist organizations set up. Some of these operates directly from Pakistan.

Punjab Sikhs spread in these countries
Even before the independence of the country, a large number of Sikhs of Punjab started settling in countries like Britain, Canada, America and Australia. After the independence of the country, within a few years, the Punjabis who went to these countries became a significant number. Gradually, instead of looking for employment and good living, it became a pastime for Sikhs to go abroad. Currently, Sikhs have a strong presence in many countries of the world including Canada, Britain, America, Australia.
That’s why Sikhs were angry
When the Sikhs from India started work in foreign companies, they started stopping their dress etc.. Companies said that Sikh beard should be cut and not even worn turban. On this, the Sikhs contacted the Indian embassies and demanded intervention in it, but the High Commissions refused to do so. Angered by this, some Sikhs started demanding a separate country for themselves, which later came in the form of terrorism. However, over time the common Sikhs stopped supporting it and the Khalistani terrorism ended.
Khalistani active in these countries
Even though Khalistani separatism is over from India, Pakistan keeps giving it to it. He still keeps trying to promote Khalistani activities by tricking some fundamentalist Sikhs sitting abroad. This is the reason that an organization like Babbar Khalsa still raises heads in America, UK, Canada, France, Norway, Germany and Switzerland. In 1992, a new group was born, which is called Babbar Khalsa (Parmar) faction. Wadwa Singh, a terrorist hidden in Pakistan, is said to be its head. Similarly, Jagjit Singh alias Billa alias Saini, the leader of the Khalistan Commando Force (KCF) created in 1986, is told, who lives in America. It has also been told in media reports that KCF also belongs to terrorist organizations like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed.
On the one hand, where the name of Khalistani terrorism was disappeared from India, on the other hand, in 1993, Ranjit Singh formed the Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) in Jammu. However, he was arrested, but in 1995, he escaped from police custody and went to Pakistan via Nepal. It is said that he is leading it for terrorist activities and its terrorists are spread in America, Europe and West Asia.
Why does foreign governments not stop Khalistanis?
Actually, Indian Sikhs have a significant number in many countries from Canada, Australia, America, UK. A large number of Sikhs live in Canada. Even the politics of these countries is holding the Sikhs and they play a good role in the government there. MP and minister have reached the post of minister. This is the reason that in many countries, Sikhs now have the freedom to work with their customs.
Turban holders are found in the US police. This is the reason why the government of any country does not want to annoy them. The governments of these countries feel that if action is taken against the Khalistanis, the Sikh community will be angry and the power will go away from it. Apart from this, evidence is also needed against them to take legal action. Pakistan -backed Khalistani targets Indians in these countries but do nothing against the original citizens of these countries. Therefore, governments do not take any steps against them.
Khalistani remains in the discussion
Khalistani has been in discussion since the start of Khalistan’s demand. The word Khalistan was first revealed in the year 1940, when it was used by Dr. Veer Singh Bhatti in a pamphlet in a response to the Muslim League’s Lahore manifesto. In the year 1966, the issue of reorganization of Punjab on the basis of language arose. Then for the first time in the 1970s, the demand for Khalistan was raised. Talking about recent times, Khalistani has been in the discussion about targeting Indians abroad, making loss of Hindu temples. Even the Canadian government and the Government of India have come face to face with Khalistanis.
In fact, in June 2023, Khalistan supporter Hardeep Singh Nijjar was shot and killed. Then the then Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, accused India that his agents had a role in the murder of Nijjar. It was rejected by India. However, due to this dispute, both countries had expelled each other’s diplomats from them and also banned the journey.
