On X (formerly Twitter), a user shared the list of expenses of a 32-year-old software professional living in Bengaluru. This list shows how expensive living in the city has become for the youth working in the IT sector.

According to this list, the woman’s monthly expenses are around Rs 1.65 lakh. The biggest expense is house rent, which is Rs 45,000. Apart from this, doctor’s fees and subscription to Claude AI cost Rs 20,000. At the same time, Mounjaro (medicine for type 2 diabetes) also costs Rs 20,000.
Travel is also a big expense. Flights to and from Bangalore to other cities cost around Rs 16,000 per month. A good amount of money also has to be paid for helping with household chores. The monthly expenses of the chef and maid are Rs 15,000. At the same time, Rs 15,000 is also spent on groceries i.e. home ration.

The total expenditure including electricity and other bills comes to Rs 5,000. Apart from this, Rs 9,000 is spent on roaming around the city, going to restaurants, weekend plans and ordering from Swiggy. According to the report, the monthly cost of a taxi to and from Bengaluru airport is around Rs 4,000. Medical expenses like vitamins and inhalers cost Rs 5,000 separately.
