What is SERE Training and why is it so dangerous?
SERE stands for-Survival, Evasion, Resistance, Escape (Survival, Evasion, Resistance, Escape). That is, the pilot is taught:
- How to stay alive.
- How to escape from the enemy.
- How to stay mentally strong when caught and how to escape as soon as you get the chance.
This training is so difficult that the pilots are put in conditions like jungle, snow, desert and captivity.
