Admission in IIT could not be found
Piyush Bansal did his early studies from Don Bosco School in Delhi. After 12th, he prepared for IIT, but could not get admission. He then graduated in Electrical Engineering from McGil University, Canada. When it was difficult to spend the expenses after studies, he got a receptionist job in a coding company. This is where the direction of his life changed. A senior of the company gave him a chance to learn coding and this skill later worked.
India left job and returned to India
After learning coding, Piyush did an internship in Microsoft and soon he got a job there. But after a year, he quit his job and returned to India, because his dream was to do something of himself. Returning to India, he created a website named Searchmycampus.com, which helped the students find coaching, room and job. This startup became popular among the students and from here he learned the nuances of digital business.
The foundation of Lenskart was laid in 2010
In 2010, Piyush along with two other colleagues Valyoo Technologies Pvt. Ltd. Started This company initially used to sell only contact lenses. It was later named Lenskart and a new chapter began in the world of glasses. Gradually, the company started selling goggle, power glass and sunglasses and on seeing it, more than 1,550 stores opened across India.
Ready to enter the stock market through IPO
Today, the valuation of Lenskart is more than ₹ 45,000 crore and it has joined India’s largest ievier companies. Now the next step of the company is IPO i.e. Initial Public Offering, through which it will give ordinary investors a chance to be a part of the company. This success of Piyush Bansal is not just a story, but an example of taking risks, learning and moving forward.
