PM Modi will go to China to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Sangathan (SCO) conference at the end of August.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit China later this month amidst the constant statements, tariffs and announcements being made by US President Donald Trump about India-Russia relations. There he will take part in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Conference. The government may soon make an official announcement about this visit. This will be the Indian Prime Minister’s first visit to China after the year 2018. After infiltration of Chinese soldiers in the Galwan Valley in the year 2020, the relationship between the two countries deteriorated significantly. However, now it seems to be improving. Let us know how old the enmity of India and China is and how it started?
Actually, despite the enmity between India and China, in recent times, the snow on the relationship is seen melting. Last year, after meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Kazan, Russia, it started to improve further. Now China has expressed strong displeasure after US President Donald Trump’s announcement of tariff on India. China’s Foreign Minister has described this announcement of America as a violation of international laws. China says that the US is resorting to tariffs to suppress other countries. It is now discussed that both countries can respond to Trump together with Russia.
British had compromised with Tibet
As far as enmity between India and China is concerned, its roots are very deep and the reason is Tibet. Actually, it is a matter of British rule. In 1914, there was an agreement between the then Government of India (British rule) and Tibet. Its agreement was signed by British administrator Sir Henry McMahon and representatives of Tibet. Under this agreement, a limit was considered between the Northeast Frontier region and the outer Tibet with Tawang in India. The British Hukuman also published a map in 1938 in 1938, showing the line drawn between the two countries under this agreement. This line is known as McMahon Rekha.
Agreement rejected after independence
India got independence in the year 1947 and became the People’s Republic of China in the year 1949. Since then, China began to dismiss the Shimla Agreement between the British Government and Tibet. He started saying that China has the right to Tibet and he would not accept any agreement between the government and the British there. However, by then China was not aggressive on this issue.
India gave separate country status to Tibet
In the year 1951, China captured Tibet, after which the situation continued to deteriorate. China claimed that it was giving Tibet independence, while Tibet was recognized as a separate country from India. Then India gave Arunachal Pradesh a separate state status in the year 1987. Earlier till 1972 it was known as the North East Frontier Agency. For the first time on 20 January 1972, it was named Arunachal Pradesh by making it a union territory.
With the status of a separate state to this area, China’s rage increased even more. After this he started violating the McMahon line. He continued to increase his activities in an area of 1126 km around the ‘Line of Actual Control’. Not only this, China has been issuing such maps many times, in which it has been describing many areas of Arunachal Pradesh as its own.
Told even Uttar Pradesh including Northeast
In particular, in the year 1958, China crossed the entire limit. A new official map of China was published on his behalf. In this new official map, China expressed its right to the entire northeastern region of India. Not only this, China started telling Ladakh, Uttar Pradesh as well as Himachal Pradesh as its own. At the same time, the then Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru started demanding that a survey be conducted here. However, on 14 December 1958, Pandit Nehru rejected this demand outright. He replied that all these are parts of India and no one should have any doubt about them.
Since then, China has been repeatedly infiltrating all these areas. Due to this, in the year 1962, China had attacked India. It is a matter of 20 October 1962. China attacked Ladakh and McMahon Rekha together. This war lasted till 21 November and China itself pulled its legs back. After this, there is constant tension between the two countries. There are clashes in soldiers on both sides on the border. However, in recent times, there has been some shortage in it.
