Chunky Pandey and Govinda appeared as special guests in the recent episode of Kajol and Twinkle Khanna’s show ‘Too Much’. During this time he made many revelations regarding his career and friendship. The show started with Chunky sharing his experience of entering the film industry. Along with this, Chunky narrated a funny anecdote, in which he told how his career started in a bathroom.
How did Chunky Pandey enter the Bollywood industry?
Chunky Pandey told that initially he had to struggle a lot to get roles, because he was not getting any offers, even side roles. Talking about this, he said, ‘I wanted to become an actor, but there was no actor in my family. Yes, my uncle was interested in character roles, but I had to struggle for 4-5 years to get my first film, but if I have been able to get into films, it is because of Govinda. On this Govinda says, ‘I left the film, that’s why she got it!’

How did Chunky Pandey get the role in the bathroom?
Chunky Pandey further said, ‘I suddenly bumped into Pahlaj Nihalani in the bathroom. My career started from there. Pahlaj had done the film ‘Ilzaam’ with her, which was a super hit, but when I met her in the bathroom, I did not know her. There was no social media in those times. People didn’t know who looked like who, so we were both in the bathroom, and there was a knot in my bag string. I wanted someone to help me open it. He helped me open it. Then I asked him what he does, and he told that he is a producer and his name is Pahlaj Nihalani. I was shocked to hear this. Then I introduced myself and said that my name is Chunky Pandey and he said what a strange name it is. I said yes, but I want to come into films. He said come to my house the next day and meet me and the very next day I got the role. Chunky started his acting career in the year 1987 with the film ‘Aag Hi Aag’ and he got real recognition with the role of Babban in ‘Tezaab’.
