According to an analysis, all 36 equity mutual funds that have completed 25 years in the market have made investors millionaires with a monthly SIP of just Rs 10,000 in a period of 25 years. According to the ET report, this study has included all those funds which have been in existence for the entire period. Only equity mutual funds have been included in this study. It does not include equity-based hybrid schemes and sectoral/thematic funds. Let us also tell you which mutual funds have given how much returns.
These funds made millionaires in 25 years
- Nippon India Growth Mid Cap Fund (formerly known as Nippon India Growth Fund) has turned a monthly SIP of Rs 10,000 into Rs 8.81 crore in the last 25 years and has given an XIRR of 22.14% on SIP investments made in the said period.
- Franklin India Mid Cap Fund (formerly known as Franklin India Prima Fund) has turned the same SIP amount into Rs 6.52 crore in the last 25 years. This fund had given XIRR returns of 20.32 percent on SIP investments made 25 years ago.
- HDFC Flexi Cap Fund (formerly known as HDFC Equity Fund) turned a monthly SIP of Rs 10,000 into Rs 5.91 crore with XIRR returns of 19.72 per cent.
- SBI Contra Fund (formerly known as SBI Magnum Contra), SBI ELSS Tax Saver Fund (formerly known as SBI Long Term Equity Fund), and SBI Large & Midcap Fund (formerly known as SBI Magnum Multiplier Fund) have transformed monthly investments between Rs 5.02 crore and Rs 5.81 crore over the last 25 years.
- Franklin India Flexi Cap Fund (formerly known as Franklin India Equity Fund) converted monthly SIP investments into Rs 4.75 crore in the said period and gave returns of 18.40% in the same period.
- HDFC ELSS Tax Saver (formerly known as HDFC TaxSaver) and ICICI Pru ELSS Tax Saver Fund (formerly known as ICICI Pru LT Equity Fund (Tax Saving)) – turned the same SIP amount into Rs 4.70 crore and Rs 4.69 crore, respectively.
- ICICI Pru Large & Mid Cap Fund (formerly known as ICICI Pru Top 100 Fund) turned the same SIP amount into Rs 3.93 crore with an XIRR of 17.24 per cent on SIP investments.
- Quant Small Cap Fund (formerly known as Quant Income Bond) and Quant ELSS Tax Saver Fund (formerly known as Quant Tax Plan) – turned this monthly SIP of Rs 10,000 into Rs 3.37 crore and Rs 3.35 crore respectively in the said period. These funds gave XIRR of 16.31 percent and 16.26 percent respectively.
- Sundaram ELSS Tax Saver Fund (formerly known as Sundaram Tax Savings Fund) and Sundaram Multi Cap Fund (formerly known as Principal Multi Cap Growth Fund) – turned the same SIP investment into Rs 3.20 crore and Rs 3.09 crore respectively in the same period.
- LIC MF Flexi Cap Fund (formerly known as LIC MF Multi Cap Fund) was the last in the list and its monthly SIP investment during this period turned into Rs 1.55 crore with an XIRR of 11.47 per cent.
- Of these 36 schemes, 18 funds have completed more than 30 years in the market, while others have completed between 25.04 years and 29.62 years. According to the ET report, the performance of SIP has been calculated from November 4, 2000 to November 4, 2025.
