Hotel distressed due to shortage of gas cylinder, Eid feast limited

The shortage of LPG cylinders in Tamil Nadu has increased the problems of the hotel industry. Due to affected gas supply, hotels are now forced to use firewood. This is directly impacting the prices of food, especially during Ramzan and Eid, the most liked biryani has now become expensive.

Impact on Ramadan, family gatherings reduced

Due to tension in West Asia, LPG crisis has deepened, whose impact is also visible on the lives of common people. Where earlier big families used to gather together and feast during Ramadan, now people are cooking at home in small groups. Local residents of Chennai say that this time people celebrated the festival by preparing biryani in small quantities.

Economic pressure on hotel industry

According to Tamil Nadu Hotel Association, about 90% of the hotels are currently not running in profit. There has been a decline of about 30% in hotel business in Chennai, while business in other parts of the state has also been affected by 10%. Hotel expenses have increased further due to increase in wood prices, which has led to increase in food prices.

change in food menu

Hotels are now cooking not only biryani but also side dishes on wood. However, due to rising costs, deep-fried items have been discontinued in many places. Some big restaurants have resorted to induction stoves. At the same time, items like Dosa are no longer available throughout the day and are being made only within stipulated time.

Prices may increase further

Hotel operators say that if LPG shortage continues and wood prices continue to rise, food items may become more expensive in the coming days. At present, both customers and businessmen are facing the impact of this crisis.
