Hotel Barcelona gets Late Check-Out DLC

New Delhi: Hotel Barcelona, a 2.5D action-horror rougelike sidescrolling platformer inspired by slasher cinema, serial killer mythology and the surreal logic of dreams has received a brutal expansion, the ‘Late Check-Out DLC’. There is also a demo out on Steam for the base version of the game (without the DLC). The DLC features two new story stages, new enemy types, and new boss encounters, significantly extending the gameplay and narrative beyond the base experience. The DLC introduces new environments, new pressures, and new threats designed to challenge players who believed that they had figured out the hotel. The additional environments distort scale, pacing and combat flow in novel ways.

The base game experience was refined with the Under New Management edition of Hotel Barcelona, with the Late Check-Out built as an escalation layer on top. The DLC introduces contrasting spatial design philosophies in the form of open versus confined spaces. The open spaces are hunting grounds, while the confined interiors are suffocating traps, designed to challenge the player instincts developed through the base game. Combat encounters are structured to feel less predictable, more reactive, and more punishing when approached passively. The expansion also reinforces the core identity of Hotel Barcelona: Violent, strange, stylish and mechanically unconventional.

What’s New in Late Check-Out?

There are two new story stages, the Dusk Valley Golf Resort, a wide, exposed environment with long sightlines and minimal cover, and the Former Grandall Estate, a decaying mansion with tight corridors and oppressive interiors. There are two new boss encounters that require the player to adapt to new environmental conditions in each stage. There are 17 new enemy types introduced across both the stages, with expanded behavioral patterns and attack logic, designed to disrupt the rhythm of combat. There are also new narrative sequences and cutscenes. The price of the base game with the DLC is $34.99, while the DLC is priced at $7.99. There is a two-week discount of 35 per cent on the DLC, with an additional 10 per cent on the combined pricing of the base game and the DLC.
