Holika Dahan 2026 Subh Muhurat: Holika Dahan is performed every year on the full moon day of Phalgun month. Holi with colors is played on the next day i.e. on Pratipada date of Krishna Paksha of Chaitra month. The festival of Holika Dahan is celebrated as the victory of good over evil. However, this year there is some doubt among the people regarding the date of Holika Dahan and Holi. Some people are saying that it is right to burn Holika on 2nd March and some on 3rd March.
Actually, all this confusion regarding Holika Dahan is happening due to Bhadra Kaal and lunar eclipse. This year, the full moon of Phalgun month will start at 05:56 pm on March 02 and will end at 05:08 pm on March 3, 2026. According to Udayatithi, the full moon of Phalgun month will be on 03 March. The first lunar eclipse of the year will also occur on March 03. In such a situation, let us know which day the pundits have considered better for Holika Dahan, 2nd or 3rd March?
When will Holika Dahan be done?
According to astrologers, Holika Dahan is done to liberate Bhadra. On the evening of March 02, there is Pradosh Kaal on the full moon date, but at that time the shadow of Bhadra will also be there. Due to this, it would not be right to burn Holika. There is no Bhadra Kaal on 3rd March, but there will be no Purnima Tithi in the evening. There will also be a shadow of lunar eclipse. Still, 3rd March is more suitable for Holika Dahan. There are two reasons for this. First of all, the lunar eclipse on this day will end at 06:46 pm. Second, Holika Dahan can be done on March 03 due to the full moon on Udayatithi.
Holika Dahan 2026 auspicious time
In such a situation, the evening of March 03 is the perfect time to burn Holika. After this, Holi with colors will be played on the morning of 4th March. The auspicious time of Holika Dahan on March 3 will be from 6:46 pm to 8 pm.
