Banke Bihari Temple.
Today, the world famous ‘Braj ki Holi’ has formally started with the holy festival of Basant Panchami in Mathura, the city of Kanha. Abir-Gulal started flying in the world famous Thakur Banke Bihari Temple of Vrindavan from this morning itself, due to which the entire temple complex got drenched in colorful colours. According to the tradition of Braj, the 40-day Holi festival begins with the planting of ‘Holi ka Dhanda’ on the day of Basant Panchami.
Today i.e. on Friday, thousands of devotees gathered at Banke Bihari temple and played Holi with their idol. As soon as the priests of the temple started sprinkling gulal on the devotees, the entire complex echoed with the slogan ‘Banke Bihari Lal ki Jai’.

On the occasion of Basant Panchami, special decorations have been done in Banke Bihari Temple. Thakur ji wore special Basanti attire today and the entire temple was scented with Basanti flowers. A large number of devotees not only from the country but also from abroad have come to witness this wonderful moment.

Temple servants told that Holi of Braj is a symbol of love and devotion. This sequence, which started from today, will continue continuously for the next 40 days i.e. till the full moon. A flood of devotees is being seen from the sanctum sanctorum of the temple to the streets outside, where everyone is seen painted in the colors of gulal.
