Holi 2026: In Sanatan Dharma, the day and festival of Holi is considered very auspicious. On this day people apply colors, gulal and abir and hug each other. Every year, after burning Holika on the full moon day of Phalgun month, Holi is played with colors the next day on Pratipada date of Krishna Paksha of Chaitra month. This year Phalgun Purnima will be celebrated on 03 March. Holika Dahan will also be done.
Holi festival will be celebrated this year on the next day i.e. 4th March. According to religious beliefs, the night of Holi is considered one of the four Maharatri of the whole year. These four Maharatri include the night of Diwali, Janmashtami, Mahashivratri and Holi. The special importance of meditation, chanting, worship and donating lamps on the nights of all these festivals has been mentioned in the religious scriptures. Under the peepal tree: On the night of Holi, one should light a lamp under the Peepal tree and do seven parikramas. By doing this on the night of Holi, all kinds of obstacles in life are removed.
In south-west direction: On the night of Holi, a lamp should be lit in the south-west direction of the house. Lighting a lamp in this direction eliminates money related problems. The economic situation becomes stronger.
At the main entrance: On the night of Holi, ghee lamps should be lit on both sides of the main entrance of the house. By doing this, positive energy circulates in the house.
In the puja room: On the night of Holi, one should remember the Gods and Goddesses by lighting a ghee lamp in the puja room. Lighting a lamp in a temple or place of worship removes negativity from the house.
Near Tulsi: A lamp must be lit near Tulsi on the evening of Holi. It is very auspicious to do this. Lighting a lamp near Tulsi keeps the atmosphere of the house positive.
