Hockey Asia Cup: Dominant India thrash South Korea to lift fourth title, earn qualification for 2026 World Cup

New Delhi: Indian men’s team lifted the Hockey Asia Cup title for the fourth time on Sunday after thrashing South Korea in the final match of the 2025 edition. The Harmanpreet Singh-led side dominated from the word go and continued their spirited effort in the most crucial clash beating the Koreans 4-1 in Rajgir, Bihar.

Indian men’s team had won the last Asia Cup eight years back. India entered the final on a strong note after thrashing China 7-0 in the last game of the Super 4 stage while Korea had beaten Malaysia 4-3 to make their way into the finals. Korea tried their best to make some inroads in the later stages which earned them a single goal but it didn’t prove enough to sideline the powerful Indian team.

By virtue of this sensational win, India have earned a direct qualification for the 2026 World Cup to be held in Belgium and the Netherlands.
