New Delhi: The India vs New Zealand T20 World Cup 2026 final has been setting records after records for the kind of entertainment it provided. After shattering multiple records across TV and digital spheres over the course of last 12 days since culmination, the high-octane game has set another massive record on TV in India.
The grand finale, which took place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, has become the most watched T20 game ever on television in the country, as per a report of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC). The contest stole the limelight with a watch time of 16.7 billion minutes which has happened for the first time in the country.

Multiple viewership records shattered
Earlier, the match registered a record-breaking viewership on streaming platform JioHotstar, with the peak concurrent viewers touching the 82.1 crore mark. The high-stakes clash had seen a big surge in online audiences as India beat the Black Caps to clinch the title for a record third time. The Men in Blue became the only team to defend the T20 World Cup title and the first nation to to win it on their home soil.
The game had recorded 74.5 crore concurrent viewers at the moment the last Kiwi wicket fell in the penultimate over, with India sealing a dominant 96-run victory. The number grew up to 82.1 crore by the end of the post-match presentation. Viewership kept rising steadily throughout the game before it peaked at the time of the closing moments.
During singer Ricky Martin’s performance before the start of the game, the concurrent viewership stood at 2.1 crore and increased to over 4.2 crore at the time of the toss.
