Hina Khan has stepped forward and seemingly reacted to the controversy that has erupted after her television colleague Shilpa Shinde made false s*xual harassment allegations against Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai producer Sanjay Kohli. The latter had recently called the accusations she levied against Kohli years ago, untrue, stating she felt “trapped” during a contract dispute and believed she had no other option. On June 3, Hina weighed in on the matter. The actress, who rarely comments on disputes that do not directly involve her, said she felt compelled to speak out because of the seriousness of the issue. Hina took to her social media handles, and wrote a lengthy, strongly worded note.

The debate resurfaced after appeared on a podcast hosted by Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa recently, where she spoke about her much-publicised fallout with the makers of Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai. As the conversation went on, Shilpa revealed that the s*xual harassment charge she had levelled against Sanjay Kohli during her spat with the show’s producers was false. She said she lodged the complaint as she had no other recourse on the contractual and payment issues.

Hina expressed dismay over using allegation for personal gain
Hina addressed the issue in her Instagram Stories. In a post, she condemned the purported use of serious allegations for personal gain, writing, “Yes, using your Sex to malign someone’s image in order to win during a conflict is absolutely shameful.” She clarified that seeking justice in genuine cases is absolutely correct, and that she supports genuine victims who have gone through legal channels. But, in this case, she was left “shocked beyond words.”

In her post, Hina shifted the focus to what she described as the “real victim” in the controversy. Referring to producer , she pointed out that he is a family man with a wife, and daughter whose lives could also be affected by such allegations. Defending him, Hina called Kohli as a hardworking producer who has been associated with several iconic TV shows. “As admitted by the Female Actor, her allegations were not just baseless they were used to gain advantage, to win, to score, to claim, to settle without the utilisation of Law,” Hina wrote.

Hina, however, expressed disbelief that despite the allegations, the same producer went on to offer work to the same actress later. “And even after that, the SAME producer gives the SAME show to the SAME person. Another LAUNCHPAD, another MOUTHPIECE, another RELEVANCE, another CHANCE to legitimise her Fake Claim of SEXUAL ASSAULT,” Hina posted.
“What if the actor repeats it? After all the actor has been given the same show by the one she FALSELY ACCUSED,” Hina wrote on a concluding note. She called the entire episode in the caption, “The joke is on us.”
