Himachal Weather: Monsoon Nears Exit, Fresh Western Disturbance To Bring Rain From Oct 5 | Forecast

Himachal Pradesh is likely to see a brief spell of clear weather before another western disturbance brings the possibility of rain to parts of the state on October 5 and 6.

According to the Meteorological Centre, Shimla, the weather is expected to remain clear from October 1 to 4. A fresh western disturbance is likely to become active on October 5 and 6, bringing light rain to the plains and mid-hill areas of Kangra, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Mandi, Shimla and Solan.

The high-altitude districts of Lahaul-Spiti and Kinnaur are likely to remain dry during this period.

Monsoon Set To Withdraw

The southwest monsoon is expected to withdraw from Himachal Pradesh within the next two to three days. The Meteorological Centre said conditions have become favourable for the monsoon to retreat from the state.

The monsoon entered Himachal Pradesh on June 30 and remained active for around 93 days.

Tabo Records -3 degrees Celsius

While daytime weather remained sunny on Wednesday, temperatures dropped during the night, particularly in the higher reaches. The state’s minimum temperature was 0.4 degrees Celsius below normal.

Tabo recorded the lowest temperature at -3 degrees Celsius, followed by Kukumseri at 4.4 degrees Celsius, Keylong at 4.8 degrees Celsius and Kalpa at 7.2 degrees Celsius.

The impact of the recent monsoon activity is still being felt across the state. Rampur recorded 16 mm of rainfall in the 24 hours ending Wednesday.

46 Roads Still Closed

As many as 46 roads remain closed across Himachal Pradesh following rain-related disruptions.

The state recorded 374 deaths during the monsoon season from June 30 to September 30. Four people remain missing, while 624 others were injured.

Of the total fatalities, 222 were linked to road accidents, while 152 deaths were reported due to landslides and floods.

The monsoon-related damage has caused losses estimated at around Rs 3,220 crore across the state. The Public Works Department alone has reported losses of approximately Rs 2,744 crore.
