Monsoon Wreaks Havoc in Himachal Pradesh: In Himachal Pradesh, monsoon has caused huge destruction in the last 59 days. Due to rain, landslides, where 263 people lost their lives in different districts so far, more than 2173 crore public property has been destroyed.
Floods in Himachal Pradesh: According to Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (HPSDMA), this year monsoon has caused huge havoc in Himachal Pradesh. Since June 20, 263 people have lost their lives. Out of the total deaths, 136 deaths have occurred due to landslides, sudden floods, cloudburst, drowning and electric shock. According to the report, 127 people lost their lives in different road accidents. The torrential rains have destroyed the entire state. Property worth Rs 2173 crore has been damaged in the entire state.
More than 31000 home shops destroyed due to floods
This year, more than 31000 houses, shops, laborers huts and cowsheds have been damaged due to heavy rains and landslides due to monsoon. These include completely and partially collapsed houses. Talking about the infrastructure, 2201 roads are disrupted, due to which connectivity is being interrupted. Apart from this, 2550 drinking water supply schemes have been affected, while 1145 power supply lines have come to a standstill, causing many areas to drown in darkness.

How many crores of property are damaged in Himachal?
Himachal Pradesh has been assessed in the loss of public property worth about Rs 2173 crore due to rain. 1626 cattle died due to rain and landslides, while more than 25700 chickens were washed away. It was told by the Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority that there have been deaths in all the districts of the state, but the most impact was in Mandi, Kangra, Kinnaur and Kullu. On August 17, there was one death each in Chamba and Kangra districts in road accidents.
3 national highways interrupted in Himachal Pradesh
Officials have warned that rains are expected to continue in many parts of Himachal Pradesh, which further poses a threat to landslides and floods. In addition, 397 roads including three national highways (NH-305, NH-05 and NH-03) are blocked by the morning of August 18, while 883 distribution transformers (DTR) and 122 water supply schemes are not working due to rain damage.
In which district of Himachal, roads are most damaged?
The district mandi is the most affected in terms of road connectivity, where 192 roads are blocked. Apart from this, 85 roads have been disrupted in Kullu and 29 in Chamba. Power supply in Kullu (543 transformers interrupted) and market (303 transformer) has been the most affected. The work of fixing them continues on a war footing, but the work is being interrupted due to landslides, stone fall and sudden floods.
