Sadhguru Fake Arrest Ads: Delhi High Court has ordered Google to stop ads abusing Sadhguru’s AI generated fake pictures and videos. The court has asked Google to use technology to block such fake ads.
Sadhguru Fake Video Case: Delhi High Court has ordered Google to immediately stop AI generated fake advertisements misusing the name, photo and video of Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev. The decision came on a petition by Sadhguru and Isha Foundation, in which they said Google was failing to remove fake ads on YouTube, including videos promoting Sadhguru’s false arrest and fake investment schemes.
Court gave strict order to Google
A single judge bench of the Delhi High Court, Justice Manit Pritam Singh Arora, on October 14 said that Google should be stopped from showing ads that show Sadhguru’s fake arrest. The court directed Google to use its technology to ensure that such fake ads do not run in future. If Google has any technical limitation or objection, it will have to file an affidavit in the court. Also, the court directed Google and Isha Foundation to discuss together and find a permanent solution, so that there is no need to file complaints again and again.
What is Google’s clickbait ad policy?
It was also presented before the court that as per Google’s policy, negative events like crime, arrest or death should not be advertised, but Google was not implementing it properly. Under the Intermediary Rules, Google is required to use automated tools or other technical measures to block content that has already been removed by court order.
Isha Foundation’s petition
Sadhguru and Isha Foundation had earlier also filed petitions against unknown channels and social media platforms. In the order dated May 30, 2025, the court protected the personality rights of Sadhguru and directed Google to suspend, remove and disable such channels and content. However, despite this there was an increase in fake ads on YouTube. These include videos promoting false arrests and fake investment schemes.
Danger of fake advertising and digital fraud
These advertisements take advantage of public trust. People can share their personal and financial information by clicking on such links. Isha Foundation said that these fake ads continue to harm Sadhguru’s work, undermine public trust and threaten the trust of digital communications. Isha Foundation appeals to all people to remain alert. If you see any advertisement or video on YouTube showing fake arrest of Sadhguru, then report it as scam or misleading.
