New Delhi: Hero MotoCorp are targeting to make their hold in the highly competitive 125 cc motorcycle segment stronger by bringing two new launches for the second quarter of FY26. This follows after Honda overtook Hero’s retail sales in July. As the festive season approaches, Hero’s model is aiming to capitalise on the usual surge in demand in the period and recover the lost ground in this high-volume section.
Currently, Hero’s 125 cc portfolio includes Glamour, Super Splendour and Xtreme 125R. Though the brand is India’s biggest two-wheeler manufacturer, the brand’s share in the 111-125 cc segment is still 12.8 per cent, putting it behind Honda and Bajaj Auto.
Hero MotorCorp’s management explained to their investor this week that in the 125 cc category, the Super Splendour is for efficiency, Glamour is more for style, and Xtreme is for performance. These have very different customers and are for completely different purposes. The management noted that they are looking at making it stronger and increasing the portfolio this quarter.
In recent times, a Glamour trim with an LCD dash has been spotted, borrowing it from the Xtreme 250R, with switchgear that will feature cruise control. It isn’t confirmed if this is the upcoming bike, although that would make it the most affordable bike with cruise control.
