Hero Motors Ltd has witnessed strong buying interest in the sessions following its stock-market debut. The company’s shares closed at Rs 167.80 on the BSE on October 1, 2026, marking a gain of about 10% during Thursday’s trading session. Based on the issue price of Rs 84, the stock has gained more than 99% since its IPO price.
Shares rose sharply after listing
Hero Motors made its stock-market debut on September 23, 2026. The shares were listed on the BSE at Rs 82.10, slightly below the IPO price of Rs 84. However, the stock recovered during the session and ended the listing day at Rs 98.51.
The subsequent trading sessions brought further gains. By October 1, the share price had reached Rs 167.80 on the BSE. At that level, the stock had gained more than 99% from its issue price in just seven trading days. Hero Motors is also listed on the NSE, where its shares closed at the same reported level of Rs 167.80 on Thursday.
Market capitalisation crosses Rs 7,600 crore
The sharp movement in the stock has also pushed the company’s market capitalisation above Rs 7,600 crore. The reported market capitalisation stood at more than Rs 7,621 crore as of the latest trading information.
While the stock has delivered substantial gains in a short period, recent performance should not be treated as an indication of future returns. Newly listed shares can experience significant price movements as the market adjusts to available information, trading volumes and investor demand.
IPO received more than seven times subscription
Hero Motors’ initial public offering attracted total subscription of 7.01 times. Retail investors placed bids for 8.62 times the shares reserved for the category, while the Non-Institutional Investor segment was subscribed 10.47 times.
The Qualified Institutional Buyer category received subscription of 1.59 times. Under the IPO structure, retail applicants could bid for a minimum of one lot and a maximum of 13 lots. Each lot contained 178 shares, making the minimum application size Rs 14,952 at the issue price of Rs 84 per share.
The subscription figures indicate the level of demand recorded during the IPO, although subscription data alone does not determine how a stock will perform after listing.
Company supplies powertrain solutions to global OEMs
Hero Motors was established in April 1998 and operates as an automotive technology company. Its business includes the design, development, manufacturing and supply of engineered powertrain solutions.
The company supplies products and integrated solutions to automotive original equipment manufacturers across markets including India, the United States, Europe and the ASEAN region. Its offerings cover both electric and non-electric powertrain applications.
As the company has only recently entered the listed market, investors will have access to a longer track record of publicly traded performance over time. Future share-price movements will depend on the company’s financial results, business performance, industry conditions and broader market factors.
