Upcoming Hero-Harley 440 Bike Launch: Hero MotoCorp has revealed its plans to launch a new model based on the 440 platform in the ongoing Q2 (July-September 2025). Currently, Hero and Harley-Davidson have one motorcycle each on the co-developed 440cc platform – the Hero Mavrick 440 and the Harley-Davidson X440. The upcoming 440 model will join the Harley-Davidson line-up in the country, making it the third product born out of the partnership.
Priced from Rs 2.40 lakh to Rs 2.80 lakh (ex-showroom, India), the premium Harley-Davidson X440 is developed entirely in India by the Indian auto major at its Centre for Innovation and Technology with inputs from Harley-Davidson. We expect the same for the upcoming Harley-Davidson model. Details on the new 440 bike are awaited, but we expect it to command a premium over the X440. A 440cc, single-cylinder, air/oil-cooled engine with a 6-speed gearbox is highly likely, albeit with some adjustments.

Why New Hero-Harley 440 Bike for India?
Hero launched the Mavrick 440 in early 2024 as its premium product, as part of its efforts to make a strategic shift prioritising 125cc and premium segments. However, sales of the Mavrick 440, which is marked out by its different styling and smaller wheels compared to the X440, fell sharply to 3,214 units in the first nine months of FY2025. On the other hand, Hero sold 8,974 units of the X440 in the same period. If we look at the combined sales figure for both models, only 13,963 units were sold during FY2025.
In response, Hero recently pulled the plug on its most premium bike, called the Mavrick 440. Meanwhile, the Harley-Davidson X440 sold well and carried on: the reasons could be strong brand value as well as reasonable pricing for a premium bike. The latter is available for purchase in three variants in the country.

Hero to Launch Two 125cc Models
In addition to the new 440 model, Hero intends to augment its 125cc portfolio with two product launches in the second quarter of FY2026. What these launches will turn out to be is yet to be known, but we believe one of them could be a new variant of the Glamour 125, which was spotted last month. Hero’s 125cc portfolio currently consists of the Super Splendor, the Xtreme 125R, and the Glamour.
