Ravi Teja was going through a low phase before the release of “Irumudi”. Considering his then-current market, Mythri Movie Makers produced the film on a modest budget and structured his remuneration accordingly. He was reportedly paid Rs 8 crore upfront, with the remaining Rs 7 crore of his Rs 15 crore package adjusted against the Nizam theatrical rights.
Before the release, Ravi Teja reportedly approached several distributors to sell the Nizam rights for Rs 8 crore. However, none of them came forward. The film was eventually released on its own, with Mythri Movie Makers taking a commission on the theatrical business.
“Irumudi” turned out to be a jackpot for Ravi Teja. The film reportedly collected close to Rs 50 crore in the Nizam region alone, giving the actor a significant boost in market value.
However, every film cannot be another “Irumudi”. Despite that, Ravi Teja has now reportedly raised his remuneration to Rs 20 crore for his upcoming films, while also seeking the Nizam rights as part of his package.
This change in his remuneration structure is said to be the reason behind his decision to walk out of producer Dil Raju and director Hasith Goli’s film. Ravi Teja had signed the project before “Irumudi” for the earlier Rs 15 crore package.
Later, producer Laxman reportedly offered him a Rs 20 crore upfront remuneration along with the Nizam rights. Ravi Teja chose to go ahead with the new deal and subsequently cancelled the Hasith Goli project. The new film will be directed by Vivek Athreya and produced by Laxman.
