Heavy rain paralyses Delhi-NCR: Check Delhi Police traffic advisory, routes to avoid

New Delhi: Life came to a standstill in the national capital on Thursday morning as heavy rain lashed Delhi, Noida, and Gurugram. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a ‘red alert’ for the National Capital Region. Commuters complained of being stuck on the roads for hours as serpentine traffic jams and waterlogging added to their woes in the morning rush hour. Besides inordinate delays, the commuters also faced difficulty in booking cabs and surge pricing on aggregator platforms.

Avoid THESE routes, according to Delhi Traffic Police advisory

The Delhi Traffic Police (DTP) issued a series of alerts about traffic disruptions. Waterlogging caused slow movement at Gali No. 10, New Rohtak Road, Anand Parbat, and on both carriageways between Kamal T-Point and Punjabi Bagh.

Traffic was also affected on Aurobindo Marg in both directions between Hauz Khas and Madarsa due to waterlogging under the AIIMS Flyover and South Extension Loop. The Moolchand Underpass, Ring Road from Ashram to Moolchand, GGR PDR, Sanjay T-Point, and NSG Red Light were also reported as trouble spots.

At Azad Market Railway Underpass and Ram Bagh Road, waterlogging prompted diversions. Vehicles coming from Rani Jhansi Road, Barfkhana, Pul Mithai, and Veer Banda Bairagi Marg were advised to use alternate routes.

Gurugram hit hard, Noida not as much

Gurugram: Several roads were reportedly submerged in the satellite town, severely affecting movement. Residents shared images and videos on social media, including scenes of deluge near Hotel Crowne Plaza, showing vehicles navigating flooded roads.

Noida: The IT Capital of NCR was relatively lucky this morning, with waterlogging being limited to a few areas. However, the rain still slowed traffic across several stretches, adding to commuter frustration.

Authorities have urged residents to avoid waterlogged roads, plan travel in advance, and stay updated via official traffic alerts.
