Dehradun: As Uttarakhand moves closer to the 2027 assembly elections, both the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress have begun shaping their strategies. The political atmosphere in the state is heating up, with the BJP focusing on achievements and Congress highlighting failures.
BJP State General Secretary Deepti Rawat said the party is presenting its “report card” to the public. She highlighted achievements such as the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), the anti-cheating law, and other key decisions. According to her, both state and central government schemes will be showcased to voters as part of the campaign.
BJP in Election Mode
The BJP has already launched its campaign, marking the Dhami government’s four years in office with major events. Senior leaders like Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh have held rallies in Haridwar and Haldwani, signaling that the party is fully prepared for election season.
Congress’s Counter Strategy
On the other hand, Congress is preparing to corner the BJP by focusing on what it calls nine years of failures. State spokesperson Garima Dasauni accused the BJP of ignoring basic issues like health, education, and employment. She alleged that the government has instead focused on divisive policies, turning Uttarakhand into a “laboratory” for religious conversion laws and the UCC.
Congress plans to take these issues directly to the people. The party has divided the state into zones, assigning responsibilities to senior leaders. They will spend time in local areas, staying overnight to connect with residents and highlight the BJP’s shortcomings.
Campaign Blueprint
Congress leaders say a blueprint for the campaign is ready, focusing on both state-level and assembly-level issues. The party’s executive committee will soon be formed, after which Congress will intensify its presence on the ground.
Stakes in 2027
The 2027 elections are crucial for both parties. The BJP aims to secure a third consecutive victory, making a “hat-trick” in Uttarakhand. Meanwhile, Congress is determined to regain lost ground and return to power after years in opposition.
For the BJP, showcasing achievements like UCC, anti-cheating laws, and development schemes will be central to its campaign. For Congress, pointing out failures in governance, unemployment, and public welfare will form the backbone of its strategy.
Uttarakhand is set for a heated political battle
With both parties entering election mode, Uttarakhand is set for a heated political battle. The BJP is banking on its achievements over the past four years, while Congress is preparing to highlight nine years of failures. As 2027 approaches, voters will decide which narrative resonates more strongly.
