On July 10, Supreme Court refused to stop SIR

Earlier, on 10 July, the Supreme Court in its order refused to ban SIR and allowed the Election Commission to complete the process. The Association for Democratic Reforms filed an application in the Supreme Court, claiming that the names of 65 lakh voters were removed without reasons in SIR, Bihar.

There is no provision for separate list of name removal in the draft list

In response, the Election Commission filed an affidavit saying that according to the rules, there is no provision to release a separate list of those whose names have not been added to the draft voter list. According to the Commission, it has shared the draft list with political parties, and it is not necessary to give the reason not to include any name in it.

Can object or claim not being named in the draft

The Election Commission said that those who are not named in the draft can file objections or claims. Such people will be given a chance to hear and they will be able to present their necessary documents. In addition, the Election Commission also demanded the court to dismiss these petitions and impose heavy fine on the petitioners. The Commission says that the petitioners are trying to mislead the court and raising this case without strong reason, so strict action should be taken against them.
