The death of a widow woman under suspicious circumstances in Kurauradang village of Mahoba district of UP created a sensation in the area. The deceased, Sukhdevi, was the daughter-in-law of ration seller Dayaram Pal, who was raising her children on her own after the death of her husband.
She was found in a blood soaked condition in her house on Thursday evening. The family immediately took him to the Community Health Center, from where he was referred to the district hospital in critical condition, but the doctors declared him dead.
Husband died in stampede
The deceased’s father Lakhan, resident of Dhwari village, has made serious allegations against the in-laws in the complaint given to the police. He told that his daughter was married to Asharam, a resident of Kurora village. Asharam died in a stampede during a fair organized in Prayagraj in February 2025. After the death of her husband, Sukhdevi was living with her children in her in-laws’ house and was somehow managing the family expenses by selling chaff.
Father in law had bad intentions towards daughter in law
The father alleges that after the death of his son-in-law, father-in-law Dayaram’s intentions towards his daughter had deteriorated. On Thursday, after seeing Sukhdevi alone at home, he caught her with bad intentions. When Sukhdevi protested and raised an alarm, Dayaram along with his son (Matrika’s brother-in-law) Keerat and grandson Yogendra beat her brutally. It is alleged that during this time she was attacked on the head with an iron rod, due to which she was seriously injured and she died.
As soon as information about the incident was received, nearby people reached the spot, after which the accused fled from the spot. Based on the complaint of the deceased’s father, the police have registered a case of culpable homicide against the father-in-law and brother-in-law and started investigating the case.
Police busy searching for father-in-law
The family members also told that earlier too there had been incidents of assault on Sukhdevi, but the matter was pacified through the Panchayat in the village. After the incident, the accused Dayaram, while trying to escape, got injured in a road accident in Rath police station area and was admitted to a hospital, but he escaped from there before the police arrived. Police officials say that teams have been formed to search for the accused and they will be arrested soon. The matter is being investigated seriously.
